About us

Heating and Cooling Work Built Around South Bay Homes

CoolForce AC Repair works on the heating and cooling systems that keep South Bay homes comfortable. The Santa Clara Valley has dry summers and mild, damp winters, and the inland and southern parts of the valley run noticeably hotter in summer than areas near the Bay. A home in south San Jose often sees hotter afternoons than one in Sunnyvale or Mountain View, so its air conditioner works harder. Across the valley, a furnace or heat pump still needs to handle cool, wet nights efficiently. We repair and install central air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits. We also handle maintenance, duct cleaning, and indoor air quality work. When you call, we start by finding out what is actually wrong. Then we walk you through what we found, your options, and what each one involves, so you can make a decision that fits your home. If a simple repair will do the job, we say so.

  3. Care in your home

We protect floors and work areas and clean up when the job is done. We also explain what we did and how to keep your system running well.

FAQ

Common questions

Don’t see your question? Call (828) 871-7747 and we’ll talk it through.

Do the new Bay Area rules mean I have to replace my gas furnace?

No. The Bay Area Air District appliance rules don't require you to replace working equipment. They only apply when an existing furnace fails or is replaced. Under Rule 9-4, natural gas furnaces manufactured from 2029 on must meet a zero-NOx emission standard. In practice, that points homeowners toward heat pumps when they replace a furnace after that date. If your furnace is working, you can keep using and maintaining it.

Can I still get the federal tax credit for a heat pump?

Not for new installations. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025. It isn't available for heat pumps installed after that date.

Are there any rebates for switching to a heat pump?

There may be. Bay Area homeowners can check BayREN and their local clean energy provider for current heat pump and electrification incentives. Amounts and availability change with each funding cycle, so we confirm the current offer before including it in a quote.

Should I repair my system or replace it?

It depends on the age of the equipment, how often it's needed repairs, and what's wrong now. Many problems, like a failed capacitor, a bad igniter, or a refrigerant leak, can be fixed. We'll explain what we found and lay out both options so you can weigh them.

How often should my heating and cooling system be serviced?

Once a year is a good rule for most homes. Servicing the air conditioner in spring helps it handle summer heat, and checking the furnace or heat pump in fall prepares it for cooler months. A heat pump does both jobs, so it benefits from regular attention.

Is a ductless mini-split a good fit for my home?

Mini-splits work well for homes without ductwork, for additions and converted garages, and for rooms that never stay comfortable on the main system. They heat and cool, and each indoor unit can be set separately. We'll look at your layout and let you know whether a mini-split makes sense.

How do I know if my ducts need cleaning?

Common signs include visible dust or debris blowing from vents, musty odors when the system runs, dust that builds up quickly after cleaning, or ducts that haven't been looked at after a remodel. We can inspect your ducts and tell you whether cleaning is likely to help.
